The Treatment

Prior to your first treatment you will have a consultation with your therapist. This will involve a chat to assess your needs and requirements for the treatment and have a general conversation about your health and lifestyle. This will also give you the opportunity to talk to the therapist about any issues concerning you. This will last approximately 15mins. The reflexology treatment itself lasts approximately 1hour, although this does vary slightly depending on the individuals needs and treatment requirements.

The reflexology session should not be painful at all; as a particular area of your foot is pressed you may feel a tingling sensation in the part of your body being treated. The reflexologist should work within your comfort zone, if you feel that too much pressure is being applied, you should tell your therapist.

The treatment is conducted while you are fully clothed, however you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and either lie down on the couch or sit on a chair with your feet up. It is most important that you are comfortable before the treatment starts.

There are no restrictions as to how many treatments a week you can have; most people feel that once a week is adequate. This also gives the body chance to eliminate waste and toxins that were stimulated in the last treatment. In some cases people may feel that a treatment more than once a week is required, this will all be discussed with your therapist at your first consultation.

For the best results a course of treatments is required and it is usually after the first 3 or 4 that you will start to notice a difference. There is no guarantee the symptoms or condition will disappear but the symptoms and the extent of the condition should be reduced.

You should feel relaxed and have a feeling of well being after your treatment, however should you feel lethargic, nauseous or have a headache, this is not a bad sign and these feeling should pass relatively quickly, as this is a transitional stage while your body is expelling toxins. If you do get such symptoms following a treatment you must inform your therapist.

The most important thing is that you relax and enjoy the experience.
